A Letter from the desk of Shannon Blasy

Dear Jefferson Parents,

Welcome back to another exciting year at Jefferson Middle School—home of the Huskies! We are so proud to serve our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students with a learning environment that challenges, supports, and inspires every student.

This year, our focus centers on the power of “WE.” We believe that true education goes beyond strong minds—it relies on building strong values together. As Huskies, we hold ourselves and our school community to four core principles:

  • WE ARE TOGETHER: We stand as one united community...staff, students, and families...working hand-in-hand through these formative years.

  • WE SHOW GRATITUDE: We are deeply grateful for your partnership, your trust, and the opportunity to guide your children every single day.

  • WE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY: We own our actions and hold ourselves accountable for cultivating a safe, supportive, and academically rich space for every learner.

  • WE SHOW INTEGRITY: We lead by example, doing what is right and building character that lasts a lifetime.

We are Huskies, and we are fully committed to walking alongside your child as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We look forward to an incredible year together!

Go Huskies!

Educationally Yours,

Shannon Blasy, Principal

Jefferson Middle School

Class Supply Lists and Tips

Class Supply Lists

Tips

  • Plan to bring supplies during the Chromebook and class schedule pickup windows. All Supplies can be placed in the students assigned locker. This will help ease your students transition to the first day of school.

  • When purchasing supplies buy matching colors for each subject. Example: a red binder, red notebook, and red folder for math.

  • No trapper keepers or zippered binders they do not fit well in lockers

  • Calculators can be found at Target, Meijer, Walmart, Staples or Amazon for around $10-$20. The calculator will be used all through their Middle School Career.

  • Avoid magnetic locker storage like pencil holders. These tend to slide when lockers are shut and cause the locker to jam.

Reminders

  • No adhesives are allowed on the inside or outside of student lockers. This includes contact paper.

  • Please label all supplies with first and last names. Binders, Notebooks, Folders, Pencil cases, backpack, lunch boxes, water bottles, coats, etc. We collect a large number of items in our lost and found each year. When items are labeled, we are able to quickly identify the owner and return the items.

Donations are welcome and appreciated

If you are interested in donating supplies to the school, we are always in need of the following items.

  • Paper Towels
  • Clorox Wipes
  • Kleenex
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Expo Markers
  • Band aids

Other helpful items include:

  • Sidewalk chalk
  • Pencils and pencil top erasers
  • Highlighters
  • Colored pocket folders (no prongs)

Donations can be dropped off to the school office on August 12th or August 13th during Chromebook and schedule pickup or anytime during school hours.

How to Enter the building with EVOLV

At Jefferson Middle School, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. As students enter the building each morning, they will walk through our EVOLV safety system—a quick, touch-free screening process designed to help keep our school safe while allowing students to enter efficiently.

You can help your student be prepared by reminding them to:

  • Remove Chromebooks and large metal objects from backpacks (such as water bottles) prior to entering the building.
  • Carry backpacks normally—there is no need to remove them.
Play
  • Place Chromebook and other items on the side table.
  • Then walk through EVOLV with you backpack and lunch box.
  • Once through collect you Chromebook and water bottle from the table.
Play

Your student may be asked to step aside for a quick secondary screening if the detector alerts. If this is the case please follow staff directions.

A few minutes of preparation helps everyone enter the building safely and keeps the morning arrival process moving smoothly. Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe and welcoming learning environment for all!

  • August 10th at 6pm - SPECIAL MEETING

We're excited to be working on a special project for our amazing Jefferson teachers and staff—a remodel of their break room!

To keep the project moving, we need to vote on this year's JPAC budget so we can move forward with ordering cabinets, a new sink, and other materials as soon as possible. The sooner we approve the budget, the sooner we can get everything ordered and installed.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

Hope to see you there!
